Ten Difficult Questions to ask your next Character

Using character prompts is a creative and effective way to develop well-rounded and engaging characters in any storytelling context, including tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs). Knowing your character before the first dice is rolled is a rewarding experience. It encourages the exploration of unique quirks, motivations, and backstories that may not have been initially considered. As we build our storytelling skills, we aim to foster creativity and seek depth.

We cannot avoid when things get difficult; it is a part of the nature of things to endure challenges. Whether we succeed or fail against the storm, a character can learn a lot about themselves. Consider how difficult questions can reveal who your character might genuinely be.
