Ten Touch Questions to ask your next Character

Using character prompts is a creative and effective way to develop well-rounded and engaging characters in any storytelling context, including tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs). Knowing your character before the first dice is rolled is a rewarding experience. It encourages the exploration of unique quirks, motivations, and backstories that may not have been initially considered. As we build our storytelling skills, we aim to foster creativity and seek depth.

This prompt looks at one of the two core areas in this series: Sensory drives.

To touch is to provide a character with a unique sensory experience. The world is three-dimensional, full of bumps, ridges, and textures that give it shape regardless of whether it is pleasant for the individual. As with all sensory drives, touch can connect us to our memories and engage us in a variety of ways.

If the sensory drive of Touch is an experience for your character, consider these 10 questions.
